It always excites me to find a new and creative way of using house-hold items to decorate my events. It especially excites me when it’s so simple that I don’t have to bring out all of my tools. (There was one unfortunate incident where I accidentally super glued my jeans to the carpet. I was trying to navigate through a sea of different tools splayed out across the floor and landed right on top of the super glue. It was a tragic day for my favorite pair of black jeans.)
That’s why I am so excited to introduce you to a new DIY project that keeps your pants out of danger.
For this tutorial, we will be creating a glitter candle holder. All you’ll need is a mason jar, craft glue, glitter, and a tea light candle. (Feel free to get creative and experiment with more materials.)
- Wash out your jar so that it’s a nice clean canvas.
- On a plate, mix Elmer’s glue and water (3:2 ratio).
- Brush the inside of the Mason jar with the glue mixture.
- Put gold glitter inside of the jar and spin it around. Make sure all the glue is covered with glitter.
- Once it dries, put the tea light candle inside the jar.
- You’re done!
You can place these jars all around your table as centerpieces or you can place them around your event location as additional decorative lighting. If you want to get extra creative, you can hang the mason jars from your ceiling or from your branches.
You can also use mason jars to hold flowers, pens, candy, drinks, or any other small items. (If you’re putting edible objects in this Mason jar, you may want to rethink using the glitter.)
These simple jars add a youthful and elegant vibe to your party. Although they’re not big and fancy, they add a certain element of charm and novelty. It’s a great way to utilize all of your creative energy without spending too much money. In addition, Mason jars are trending throughout social media sites. Instagram has nearly 1,000,000 hashtags related to mason jars. Pinterest and Tumblr are flooded with pages upon pages of Mason jar pictures. So start getting creative and put your own twist on this Mason jar sensation this season.
Have fun and don’t follow my lead by staying out of sticky situations!
